I’m the General Manager Operations at Port Waratah Coal Services located in the Port of Newcastle, the world’s largest coal export port. Our terminal services underpin the activities of the Hunter Valley Coal Chain connecting Hunter Valley coal with the world.

My day to day sees me spend much of my time and energy working closely with our people to deliver a high-quality cost-effective service for our customers. The people at Port Waratah are our greatest asset and their health and safety is paramount. I am focussed on preventing injuries and illnesses in the workplace and I value the importance of providing the best possible care to people when they do incur an injury at work or in the community.

The Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service is an outstanding example of an organisation that also shares this philosophy. WRHS is an integral part of the Hunter Valley ‘Care Supply Chain’ and provides a world-class service to those in our community during their greatest times of need.

Port Waratah and its employees have supported the service for decades through payroll deductions matched $ for $ by the company, participation in events and fund-raising activities. This long-standing partnership shows that both the WRHS team and the Port Waratah team share similar values; caring, integrity and excellence in customer and community service and investment in people. I am therefore delighted to ‘leap’ onboard the latest WHRS initiative for the Port Waratah team.

I normally prefer to seek my thrills in the water, surfing and travelling. Leaping off a stadium isn’t something I would normally seek to do, however, I’m keen to give it a go to help raise funds for this important, well regarded, community asset.
